Meet our team

Hi, I'm Rina. Born in Durban South Africa.

In Durban, we have a  minority of  Indians.  From my earliest memories of about 4 years old, my dad's (Indian) side of the family, my aunties having their catering business, cooking vast pots of  Biryani for weddings.

And my mother's side and all of her nine sisters always cooked were and braaing every weekend, holiday or just for whatever reason during the week. It is a massive part of South African culture!

I became a lover of red meat, ribs and chops and took every opportunity to pull out the braai ( bbq). From the age of nine, it became frustrating always waiting for the men to bbq so I began to take an interest in bbq’ing. I nagged my dad every Friday to let me braai until he gave in. I would go on to be the designated braai person at every function because I couldn't wait to get it going.

Eventually, I came to the UK and met my husband, Paul. Our first date was him inviting me over to his mum’s place where he surprised me with a bbq in the snow... this was our love story

The London Braai Company is founded on the idea that braaing is a South African tradition we take wherever we go. A braai takes you back to your roots, it's as simple as that. It doesn't belong only in South Africa, but it does go with our heritage and culture.
